Match Report - Broadplain RFC U9 v Chepstow RFC U9

Team - Jonty (c), Otis, Zach, Owen, Will D, Osian, Tomos, Will A, Tomas

Following the excitement of the big game at the Principality Stadium on Saturday evening, it was the turn of Chepstow's mini rugby players to take on a team from across the Severn Bridge travelling into deepest Bristol to play Broadplain RFC. The earlier fixture had seen Chepstow dominate the game so their was hope of a more challenging match-up for the return.

Chepstow showed early intent to their approach to the game with some determined warm-up that wouldn't have been amiss on the principality field.

The game was a thoroughly one-sided affair, Chesptow from the start were determined in their tackling and forced numerous turn-overs to have the lion-share of possession throughout the game. Some fantastic inter-play between players with fantastic passing in the tackle allowed space to open up all over the pitch providing plenty of opportunities for the Chepstow players to score a plethora of tries to make this a more one-sided affair than the home game.

There was a need for Chepstow to be managed on the pitch by the officials as they took full advantage of the freedom to play and their dominance never allowed Broadplain to get on the front foot throughout the game. Several moments saw the Chepstow defense drive Broadplain back past their touchline and through the deadball zone out of play!!

Tries were scored by Otis (2), Osian (3), Tomas (6), Jonty (2), Will D (2)

Player of the Match - Tomas Briley for sheer determination in capitalising on the opportunities laid out before the team

Overview - a fantastic performance by the entire team dominating the opposition throughout the game. Some focus needs to be put on keeping the tackling low as a stricter referee would have penalised the team on a few occasions.
