Chepstow Under 7’s returned to the forest for the second time in 8 days, this time to take on a Drybrook Under 7’s outfit seemingly brimming with new recruits. The sides had only previously met on one occasion, a Chepstow “win” at the Lydney festival way back in the early autumn sunshine. 

In blustery conditions and facing in to a strong headwind Chepstow got the game underway, Otis passing to Flynn who powered through to touch down with the game just a few seconds old.  Drybrook took possession only to eventually turn over and Flynn scored his second from Owen’s try line pass. Owen then added the third with a cool finish before Drybrook eventually pulled one back. A neat passage of play saw Bethan charge down the line evading Drybrook’s attempts to tag and touching down to give Chepstow a strong foothold in the match. Drybrook were showing plenty of spirit and pulled another try back before the referee blew his whistle on an entertaining first period of play. 

Henry was first to go over for Chepstow in the next period swiftly followed by Otis with his first of the match. Tomas added to the scoresheet soon after and despite some valiant attempts from Drybrook, they couldn’t breach Chepstow’s more experienced defence.

In the third period Otis grabbed another two scores either side of a Tomos try, both players weaving in and out of the Drybrook lines to put Chepstow in to a commanding position. The following periods of play produced a flurry of tries providing some great entertainment to the on looking crowd and given Chepstow’s numbers, plenty of game time for all who made the trip. The boys and girls from both sides clearly enjoyed this morning’s matches and great to see another club coaching the children to compete but most of all, enjoy the game.
